HOW CAN WE HELP CHILDREN AND YOUNG PEOPLE STAY SAFER ONLINE?
Meldrum Academy Parent Council invite you to an awareness raising event on the subject of Child Exploitation Online Protection (CEOP) and Cyber bullying led by Meldrum Academy and Grampian Police on Tuesday November 23, 7.00 -8.00pm.
This meeting is open to parents/carers of children and young people attending schools across the Meldrum Cluster.
A number of Academy staff have been CEOP trained and working with representatives of Grampian Police have raised the pupils’ awareness of this issue throughout the school. As a Parent Council we recognise this as good practice and would like to extend this to parents.
Jim Gamble, Chief Executive of the CEOP Centre said:
“There are many resources out there aimed at helping young people stay safe online – software and other tools which can feel reassuring. But none of these will help unless people take notice of what the threat really is. This is where CEOP comes in, providing information on what children are actually doing in the virtual world and how offenders are using online environments to target young victims”.
